[Our Partners]
Fueling intergenerational economic sovereignty for self-employed women of color and their families—through powerful partnerships.
Standing in Our Power
Standing in Our Power (SiOP) envisions a world where trans and cisgender women of color, and gender non-conforming people of color, co-create a new story of holistic transformation, sustainability, and wellness. Through our transformative leadership development and capacity-building model, our intergenerational network of social justice movement leaders and social entrepreneurs radically redefines the status quo to ignite personal, structural, and cultural liberation.
Our Partnership: Just BE serves as a member of the SiOP Core Team and partners with SiOP to provide restorative healing retreats for self-employed leaders.
Restore Oakland
Restore Oakland is a community hub cultivating restorative economics and healing justice. They create models of safe and thriving communities and economies through their community-owned space in the Fruitvale Neighborhood of Oakland, California. They bring residents of Oakland together to build wholeness, a sense of safety, and democratic wealth.
Our Partnership: The REAL People’s Organizing Collective (RPOC) is a project of Restore Oakland. Just BE serves as a member of RPOC, collaborates on political education, and utilizes the space for our programs.
Understory
Understory was founded in 2020 by Lily Fahsi-Haskell, Jenabi Pareja, Nino Serrano, and Florencio Esquivel to address the impact the COVID-19 pandemic was having on workers of color within the restaurant industry. With diverse backgrounds as chefs, artists, and movement organizers, they dared to create a collaborative restaurant model that centers worker agency, access, inclusion, and radical community care.
Our Partnership: Just BE hosts our monthly Kindred Connection gatherings at Understory, building community through place and their delicious meals.
SoulFlow
SoulFlow is a Black-led, woman-led yoga + healing organization with the 25 workers being majority BlPOC and LGBTQ+. They are centered in the principles of Black feminism, restorative justice, and radical inclusion. Their vision is to co-create a world where everyone can thrive, there’s abundant, culturally relevant access to healthcare, including Yoga + Meditation, and we are in rhythm with nature.
Our Partnership: Just BE hosts our monthly Kindred Connection gatherings at Understory, building community through place and their delicious meals.
CoBiz
CoBiz is a Black founded and operated nonprofit coworking and business incubator space. Founded in 2019, CoBiz was a city initiative developed to revitalize downtown Richmond. CoBiz builds infrastructure for wellness entrepreneurially, professionally, and personally in under-invested communities by providing access to space and economic resources that catalyze people to thrive in all capacities.
Our Partnership: Just BE collaborates with CoBiz to host a quarterly free coworking and lunch day for BIWOC entrepreneurs entitled COBIZY Women. We also utilize the space for Kindred Connections and other local programming.
Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center
Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center ( Ren Center ) transforms lives and communities through entrepreneurship. Their mission is to empower and increase the entrepreneurial capacities of aspiring and established entrepreneurs and thereby strengthen our communities through the creation of sustainable new businesses, new jobs, and financial self-sufficiency.
Our Partnership: Ren Center operates Sistas SOAR in partnership with Richmond Community Foundation (RCF), an incubator program designed to support Black women entrepreneurs in Richmond with business training, technical assistance, and strategic growth resources. As part of this program, Renaissance is developing a partnership with Just BE to provide participants with weekly Sista Circles—dedicated spaces for emotional support, peer mentorship, and discussions on the social and systemic challenges faced by Black women entrepreneurs.
